Adobe Premiere Pro

This semester I taught a non-fiction film unit to my gifted middle schoolers.  We met for 2.5 hours per week for 17 weeks.  They got a good introductory course on crafting a non-fiction story with film.  I was able to craft my skills this semester as well.  I used my new Panasonic Lumix G7 to shoot higher quality footage and created some nice little films using WeVideo.  Here are a couple of examples.

By the end of the semester I was ready to take the leap to a more advanced editing software.  This month I purchased the Adobe Cloud Creative Suite (Teachers get a sweet discount).  This software has many applications, but I started with Premiere Pro for editing movies.  I took on a lofty first project with an episode of The Buzz Cooking Show (a cooking show I make with my son).  I was able to access Lynda.com for free online courses through my library and found a great Premiere Pro course.  I’ve made it 56% of the way through the course and spent many hours using the course to work my way through my first project.  Premiere has all kinds of interesting methods to edit clips down for perfect timing. I’m no expert for sure, but I’m having a great time trying.  I learned about gain and improved my audio skills.  Overall I am satisfied and proud of my learning so far.  Here is my first project using Adobe Premiere Pro for post-production.

I look forward to completing the other 44% of my Lynda course very soon and making many more movies using Premiere Pro.  However, it’s onward and upward.  My next semester is a unit on art automata (mechanical toys).  So, it looks like Fusion 360, laser cutters, and 3Dprinters are in my future.  I’ll keep ya posted.
