Printmaking Exhibit at the Creamery

My middle school printmaking students exhibited their work at the Creamery Art Studio during First Friday Art Walk on May 4, 2018.  40 young artists shared around 120 matted pieces including monoprints, foam, linoleum, woodblock, and drypoint engravings.  Each artist also composed artist statement(s) for each piece or the collection.
I shared work in the exhibit as well, along with an artist statement.  It was a vulnerable feeling to put myself on display in such a way, but I think it is important that we teachers take the risks we ask our students to engage.
I was especially proud to display the documentaries I made of the process.  I published 3 documentaries of the process and then played them on loop on laptop screens, which were mounted to the gallery walls with strong double sided tape.  The following documentaries were displayed:

                                          Linoleum and Woodblock Printing

                                          Foam Block Printing

                                          Drypoint Engraving and Suminagashi
Curating the exhibit was especially pleasurable.  I spent around 6 hours the day of the showing designing the layout and mounting.  It was an interesting process thinking about placement of pieces for flow, thought process, and movement.  I really enjoyed curating this exhibit and look forward to teaching printmaking again in the very near future.
